Having been interested in art at a young age, Vincent developed a keen sense of spatial intelligence that enabled him to creatively express his imagination into a visual form. His favourite activity is to perform freehand sketches of objects he observes or of things that he conjures from his imagination. Interior design, therefore sprouted out from his interest and became very naturally, his profession.

Vincent started out as an apprentice designer in 1982 with a consultant firm and has accumulated over 20 years of experience in designing and project management of corporate and commercial interiors. The experience he developed in managing these projects gave him the know-how and the confidence into starting on his own.

Setting up his own practice in 1990, Design Kinetics has had a wide range of projects encompassing commercial, retail and hospitality projects. Some of the projects undertaken in the past include the regional offices of Expeditors and Menlo Worldwide located at the Changi Airport Logistics Hub, Boustead Group of Companies at Ubi Industrial Park and Ngee Ann City Management offices. He was responsible, among many others, for the design of the Sijori Resort in Batam – Indonesia, the former National Computer Board (IINF) office (now known as Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore) and Sears Buying Services, Inc.

He also sits on the examining board presiding over the administration of the interior design course conducted at CITI (Construction Industry Training Institute). He has also been involved in the executive council board of the Interior Designers Confederation for the past 6 years.

To date, his passion for the profession has remained strong. The industry has evolved and moved on to a different plane and there is a greater public knowledge today about the role of an interior designer. But the challenge to innovate, to reinvent and set new trends in design will no doubt be more pressing as the information age now carries ideas across the globe almost instantly. “Think creatively, immerse yourself in the realm of your imagination to bring out the best in you” – this spells his passion and joy that he derives from it.
